For many of us backbends can either be physically challenging, strengthening or energising.
In this workshop, we will build the foundations of our backbends with a slow, detailed sequence, incorporating standing postures and simple actions to access the shoulders and upper back. We will look at the importance of finding length in the quadriceps, the psoas and the hip flexors. Props and techniques will help us to explore deeper, as we prepare to work safely towards Urdhva Dhanurasana (Full bridge pose /wheel) finding a balance between the front and back of the body.
We will finish with a short Sarvangasana (shoulder stand) sequence and a chance to fully relax in Savasana.
